  • publications;

and

  • much more.

The navigation bar on the left hand side is a good starting point.

Many people contact the club for advice on getting a puppy.

Below are just a few important things to consider:

  • Never buy a pup before it is 10 weeks old (a puppy learns a lot from its litter siblings and mother in the early weeks of life. These skills are important for a confident and happy puppy).

  •  Your pup must have at least 1 vaccination at 6 weeks (vet checked) and certificate (please note that vaccinations take 10 to 14 days to work after they have been given).

  •  Find out the history of health of the parents.

  •  Visit your new pup at least once before you leave with it (see your pup play with its siblings and people – it will give you an idea of what the pup is like – confident, shy, bossy, noisy etc).

  • Make sure you ask lots of questions - ask what socialisation (kids, cats, cars) and training (such as walking on a lead, house or paper trained) what food has he/she been eating, what are it's sleep routines (is the pup used to waking at 5am for instance or going to bed at 10pm – it can make a big difference in the first week or two), and has the pup has been regularly wormed (they are usually wormed at 2, 4, 8 and 12 weeks with a liquid wormer).

  • Make sure you have breeders contact details on the pedigree.
